Corporate Social Responsibility

Cigna's mission is to help the people we serve improve their health, well-being and sense of security.

As such, we see our corporate responsibility programme as an important opportunity to connect that mission to people and communities everywhere. By listening, by understanding and by taking action, we are committed to applying our resources and expertise in a way that creates positive change.

In 2012, Cigna launched Cigna Connects, a comprehensive corporate responsibility program tied to Cigna’s mission. Cigna Connect's vision is to gather, engage and activate key groups to achieve improvements in the areas of child wellness, senior care, health literacy and health equity.

Cigna believes that investing in the health of our communities directly connects with our overall success. The Cigna Foundation is an important part of that strategy. This independent, charitable entity works to enhance individual and community health by finding people with energy and ideas, and helping them turn their passions into productive solutions.

In 2011, Cigna provided $11.3 million in financial impact from charitable contributions (as at 31 December 2011).

In the UK, Cigna Insurance Services takes its corporate social responsibility seriously. In addition to backing worldwide initiatives, we also provide support for two very special charities – St Raphael’s Hospice and St Luke’s Hospice.

These are located near to our offices, allowing us to help improve the health, well-being and sense of security of the people they serve through the work they do within our local communities.
